Is it Spring yet?

Spring Thaw

a muffled cry
across the snow-packed landscape
echoes the promise of impending spring.

Spring Renewal

Spring is a chance to catch our breath and renew our spirit…

The ice is breaking up today
The frozen river cast aside its icy coat
And set its rushing waters free
To scour away the gray debris of winter from its banks
Beguiled by this joyous flow
I, too, have cast away my care
Allowed the sun to bless my face
And burn away all icy trace of worry from my mind
Trouble will return, I know
And very soon
I must resume
The battles that define my life
But for today
It is enough to feel the sun
To watch the water running free
And like the frozen river
Be renewed again by spring

Be Careful Out There

There are sayings, “Look before you leap!”, “If it seems too good to be true, then it is”, “Watch out for wooden pennies”, “Easy come, easy go!” The reason I brought this up is that these sayings came to light just recently.

I was on the search for a hotel room and I was using a site that offer incredible deals and compare room rates to other vacation sites. The hotel I was interested in had a great rate, the pictures looked wonderful, the rating was in the 8/10 range and it seemed too good too be true. I even went to the actual site of the hotel and it had great pictures, recommendations, etc. Even though I was in a hurry at the time and was not as careful as I usually am; I thought why not.

Then the next day, the cautious mode kicked in and I thought I would l double check on some other sites that I use to look at the hotel and then BAM! The comments from past visitors or vacationers and shared pictures were terrible. I couldn’t believe it. I was not only disappointed but angry. Can you say false advertising? Thank goodness I could get my deposit back from the site.

America, the land of opportunity. How far have we gone to make money and take advantage of others to do it? The internet is such an amazing tool for work, study and play, but everything isn’t always what it’s portrayed to be. I have written about the bully and how they may use the internet as their emotional playground, and now I write about the sly investment maker that knows how to creatively use photo shop.

Do your homework, and be careful!
